Doing things for free

Here are some thoughts on how volunteering can help boost your work life… and life in general…

I haven’t done much of it lately but I am thinking seriously of doing something for free, for society. Here’s why:

1. It takes you out of your small, small world of problems and stresses that in the grand scheme of things are so minute, they are like grains of sand.

2. You meet a variety of different people in the process.

3. There are opportunities to hone different skill sets such as communicating with different people, driving fundraisers, etc.

4. Points 1, 2 and 3 all help to give a grander perspective on life, usually this also leads you to appreciate life more.

When life’s sole purpose becomes attaining money &/ things, that’s no life at all.
