I have encountered some co-workers who constantly mention their encounters and meetings with important VPs & executives and co-workers who never fail to mention their experiences doing highly important work for highly important companies & projects in the past. At times, my immediate response is suspicion, a response that wonders why they are bragging to me and what are they really trying to convey?

Perhaps it is a condition that women are conditioned to have but modesty was something preached to me for the most part of my life. In the end however, will modesty really get me that promotion or raise? Bragging does have it’s perks… it makes you more visible to the people around you …. here is an interesting article about the fine line between self-promotion and downright pompous-ass.
